Pencils at Pencils?

A well-coiffed women comes up to me and asks, "Do you sell pencils here?" I looked at her with a straight face for a few seconds and said, "Why would you think we would sell pencils at "Pencils"? She turned around and walked out... Esteemed American journalist H.L. Mecken got it right when he wrote, "There is no underestimating the intelligence of the American Public."

  1. Not just the American public, it's a worldwide phenomena. I used to work in an Optometrists here in the UK, and frequently got asked "Do you sell glasses here?" All I could do was pause, and turn to look at the thousands of glasses on display all over the walls.
Or at my current place of work (Primevil - low budget disposable fashion) "Is this the men's department?" 'Yes, and I think this size 6 dress would look beautiful on your 18 stone frame.'
